Last Full Day!!

That’s the last full day past! It’s been a busy day as the other days have been! Groups were paddle boarding, skiing, biking, problem solving, sailing, canoeing and the dreaded Wide Game at night! This was the best day of weather of the week ! It was windy and cold in the morning but as the day went on it got better and better! The children are all very tired and are asleep early tonight. We just hope they are all packed and ready for the big tidy up before breakfast and the first activity. We need to be out of the rooms before 9am and then go for our activity, have lunch and then hit the road! The staff and instructors have been excellent lol week. Some of the instructors re new for the season and some have been there for a few years! But they all go the extra mile to encourage the children and make sure they enjoy the activities and try things if they are a bit unsure. The kids have been great all week. They have represented the three schools very well and have made a good ...

DAy 2 - TUESDAY

Blog Day 2: Tuesday ! So breakfast time came earlier than some of the staff and some of the kids hoped for. The children were up at 7am as we were told that we could put breakfast back to 8am. Tomorrow, Wednesday, will be 7.30am as the other schools have arrived. The children have ben great so far and the instructors have been complimentary about how well they are doing and how hard they have worked. It was colder today and being active was definitely a must! We were down for breakfast and the children made their packed lunches! We had the usual selection of ‘odd’ sandwiches and quite a few were going ‘posh’ by cutting the crusts off! While some made lunch the others had breakfast. Cereals, toast and bacon, scrambled eggs and beans were on offer. Some had cereal and some went for cooked while quite a few went for both. We were down for 9.00am to start. This year they are having each group starting at different times so there is not a melee getting all the equipment. ...

Loch Insh 2019 Day 1

Blog Day1 We have had a great first day of our trip. We arrived safely and after a quick lunch we were out ready for the first set of activities. The safety talk went over the ‘do’s and don’ts for the week and we were raring to go. We made our way down the 68 steps to the Boat House where all the activities start. The groups were sailing, canoeing and paddle boarding! Canoeing: With the children warmly dressed and waterproofs on they were given life jackets and a paddle! As a group they were shown how to hold the paddles and how to use them! Easier said than done! The lifejackets were securely fitted and checked before they made their way to the canoes down by the waterside. In groups of two or three they were set off and were in a sheltered area at first to try and get the basics of manoeuvring the canoe as a team! Before long they set off up the loch. The wind was strong and so they did the difficult bit first…..canoe up stream! At least they would have the current...

Arrived Safe and Sound!

Welcome from Loch Insh! We tried sfe and sound after a good trip up. We had a stop in Aberlour enroute for a toilet and coffee stop!! We then continued on our way and revived around midday. We got everyone sorted into their rooms, had lunch and had a welcome and safety talk. The five groups are all on the water this afternoon. Two groups are paddle boarding, a new activity for this year, while two are sailing and one is Canadian Canoeing. It is a very bright day and a bit breezy..but perfect for being on the water. More updates later!
